About John
Over the past 25 years, John has written, produced and developed projects with some of the most original and influential media figures of the past 25 years. From groundbreaking comedians to outspoken pundits, he’s helped those with vision find and maintain their voice while shaping the national conversation.
After getting his start working for icons like Bill Maher, Dana Carvey and David Letterman, John helped launch the Oxygen network. From there he went on to create and sell the series Help Wanted to TLC while simultaneously producing Colin Quinn’s Tough Crowd at Comedy Central. Immediately following, John wrote and produced pilot projects for VH-1 and helped to initiate CNBC’s prime-time programming.
After a stint teaching college, John was recruited to the Head Writer position at CNN Headline News, joining the team behind the fastest rising, most notorious star in cable news history. In addition to helping the host craft his message for radio, TV, and the Web, John co/ghostwrote a number of his NYTimes #1 Best-selling books, as well as the scripts for his record-setting live events.
John was then brought on to reimagine, write, direct and produce the improv comedy-based, landmark NYC tourism attraction, The Ride. He continued to work with a select group of clients across the political and pop cultural spectrum, including Lone Survivor’s Marcus Luttrell and American Sniper’s Taya Kyle, helping them become two of the most inspiring, compelling, and sought after commentators in their fields.
On his own, John’s written essays, celebrity profiles and luxury lifestyle pieces for a number of national magazines and websites, contributed to SNL’s Weekend Update, crafted humor pieces for MTV News, The Huffington Post, and McSweeney’s, and taught/guest lectured at a number of colleges and universities. Prior to relocating to Southern California, John served as the lead entertainment producer for NBC’s The Today Show and a Consulting Producer for Dan Harmon’s Great Minds, a pilot project that went on to be picked up as a series for the History Channel.
Now a happy Californian, John continues serving as the Editor-at-Large for the Heddels.com and has begun exploring the world con Content Direction, recently serving as the Copywriting Manager for wellness tech innovator Mindbody, and Content Director for the green banking upstart Ando.
John’s happily married to wife Tara, and loves nothing more than chasing after kitties Harry and Ollie and doggies Matilda and Amelia.
